The Site is located within Bromley town centre, a highly sustainable location within an identified ‘Opportunity Area’ as part of the future growth plans for the town.

EDLA was appointed as part of a wider design team including Hollaway Studio and Boyer Planning to undertake a Townscape and Visual Impact Assessment (TVIA), tall building study, verified views and the landscape design for the inner courtyards. The site is part of a wider masterplan block, which we designed the wider concept approach for.

The TVIA approach involved 2 parts; a Tall Building Study which used basic massing models within VuCity, banded to explore the relationship of heights to surrounding context; and a Townscape and Visual Impact Assessment which set out an assessment of the fixed scheme. Viewpoints were wide ranging due to the height of the buildings and agreed with the Local Authority as part of the consultation process.

The concept design for the inner courtyards was to create an escape from the wider environment through seating, new tree planting and will features. Climbers are proposed in raised garden beds to add a green element to the facades, all of which contributed towards meeting Urban Greening Factor policy.
