Hiring: Senior/Associate Landscape Planner

We are a boutique landscape studio, committed to the highest quality of landscape planning, design and the environment. Our work is stimulating and varied, from beautiful homes in the countryside to a wave park, to the regeneration of a contaminated historic rail yard site, to large strategic mixed use schemes including country parks.

This offers fantastic opportunities for you and your career, in a company that allows you the space to make your mark.  We envisage you bringing energy, enthusiasm and attention to detail.  You are unafraid to confront the status quo.

Experience required:

  • Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute
  • Has a minimum of 4 years’ experience working as a Landscape Planner
  • Experience in undertaking site appraisals and interpreting the findings to develop Advice Notes and Opportunities and Constraints plans, to inform the way that development could most sensitively come forward on site.
  • Experience within urban and strategic sites
  • Highly experienced with Green Belt, scenic landscape designations and EIA development
  • Expert witness experience advantageous (be it helping to support others or giving evidence yourself)
  • A keen interest in planning policy
  • Tall building assessment experience would be advantageous.
  • Confident liaising with and coordinating with the GIS work within the team, and coordinating with external consultants undertaking visualisations.

We are growing and we are looking for someone who wants to grow with us. Who can thrive in a culture which can be pressurised but also dynamic and progressive, and underpinned by quality and integrity, across our work and in our relationships, with each other, our clients, and co-consultants.

We offer a hybrid way of working and give all of our team the autonomy to manage their own work, but you also must enjoy being part of a collaborative team. And to ensure we keep that collaboration fresh; we ask that we have a full team presence in our office in Canterbury at least twice per month.

We pride ourselves on our respectful, inclusive and creative working environment. We value our team; you will be recognised, heard and appreciated.

Skills and personal talents we need:

  • A self-starter and able to use own initiative and be proactive when appropriate
  • Ability to work collaboratively and a supportive team player
  • Open to ideas and confident in putting your views forward
  • Ability to be flexible and respond creatively to inevitable complications as they arise
  • Ability to produce well-written reports using a full range of IT
  • Be comfortable with and have experience in attending meetings and liaising with clients, local authorities and third-party stakeholders
  • Experience of client relationship building
  • Commercial awareness and experience in business development
  • Capable of mentoring junior team members and motivating a team
  • A minimum 2 years’ experience of reviewing others’ work & be able to critically review your own work
  • Be eligible to work within the UK
  • Full clean driving licence

In return we offer:

A competitive salary, commensurate with experience, and the following additional benefits:

  • Flexible working – hybrid working & a family friendly culture
  • 28 days holiday (including bank holidays) plus a day off on your birthday.
  • Healthcare
  • Opportunities for career development and progression within EDLA with future opportunities to develop a growing ecology team and to lead this
