The former Foxbridge Golf Club is a 60-acre site situated in West Sussex which ceased trading in May 2019. The site has since fallen into disuse, with no public access. The proposals present a unique opportunity to reinvent Foxbridge, so that it once again contributes positively to the local community to create a leisure and overnight stay destination that places nature, tranquility, and wellness at its heart.
EDLA has been commissioned to provide strategic advice and landscape design.
Our proposal includes different character areas that have been inspired by different landscape characters found within West Sussex, old land uses seen nearby on historic mappings such as a Brickfield, or existing features such as a pond. Our proposal transforms this into a lunar pond, with a communal night sky viewing deck and minimum lighting to allow reflection of the night sky on the water’s surface. Each character area will be unique in feel and aesthetic yet connected to allow biodiversity connectivity and recreational linkages.
The majority of trees across the Site will be retained. Landscape buffers to the ancient woodland and enhancements to boundary vegetation will help the Site sit within the surrounding landscape. Conifers along the eastern boundary will be removed and replaced with native woodland species in phases.
Our masterplan also includes:
