Knoll House, Brighton

Knoll House is a Council-owned residential care home. It was built in 1981 and was closed in 2019 as it no longer meets the requirements of the Council and the residents who lived within the building. Knoll House previously provided personal care and support, as part of a rehabilitation programme following discharge from hospital, for up to 20 people in a two-storey C2 Residential Care Home. Care and support were provided to adults, but predominantly to people over 65 years of age.

The new scheme aims to provide high-quality accommodation for people with acquired brain injuries and for people with physical disabilities. The people who live in the building will require support to maximise their independence, with support needs ranging from 10-63 hours per week.

EDLA designed the landscape and podium garden to provide residents with social and private space that is secure without feeling institutional. The scheme was designed to have minimal impact on the existing landscape/estate around Knoll House.

We are delighted that Knoll House received planning permission in Summer 2023.
