Client: Abbey Commercial Limited

In collaboration with: Child Graddon Lewis (Architects) and Avision Young (Planners).

Our scheme responds to the need for more urban greening, through the use of roof terraces, play features, strong green wayfinding trees, multi-seasonal planting and wildlife-friendly ambient lighting within the private and public realm.

This scheme is the proposed demolition of the existing building and erection of a nine-storey building, urban greening, and soft landscaping throughout the entire site.

Ballards Lane, Finchley

This project sees the demolition and erection of a new nine storey building and landscape on Ballards Lane. A lively cosmopolitan mixed-use road in North Finchley. Our scheme responds to the need for more urban greening, through the use of roof terraces, play features, strong green wayfinding trees, multi-seasonal planting and wildlife-friendly ambient lighting within the private and public realm.

Our strategy was informed by the findings from a public consultation for the future development of Finchley Square which called for:

  • A coherent and distinctive material palette for Finchley Central
  • Less clutter on the high street
  • More trees
  • A greener town centre
  • Planting to create a buffer between the pavement and busy roads.
  • The high street to better reflect the nature of the surrounding area.
  • Increased opportunities for pedestrians to safely cross Ballards Lane.
